Everything you need to know about freeze-dried food, food storage, and how Thrive Freeze helps you build the right plan. Still stuck? Ask our advisor, Aria.
What is Thrive Freeze?
Thrive Freeze is an independent freeze-dried food and emergency-preparedness advisor. We’ve helped 10,000+ households since 2018 choose the right long-term food storage. We don’t manufacture or ship food ourselves — we curate and recommend the best products, and our trusted partner Thrivalist fulfills and ships your order.
Who supplies and ships the products?
Most of our freeze-dried food — fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy & eggs, water and the bulk #10 cans — is supplied and shipped by our partner Thrivalist (Ready Harvest). Our freeze-dried snacks are supplied and shipped separately by our partner Wise Harvest, so snack orders are placed and fulfilled directly through Wise Harvest (they open in a new tab so you can keep browsing here). Thrive Freeze is an independent advisor — we don’t manufacture or ship any food ourselves.
What is freeze-dried food?
Freeze-drying removes almost all moisture from fresh food at low temperatures, locking in flavor, color, and most nutrients. Unlike ordinary dehydration, it keeps food light and shelf-stable for decades. Just add water to rehydrate.
How long does freeze-dried food last?
Our Ready Harvest #10 cans last 25–30 years unopened when stored cool, dark, and dry — ideally below 70°F, away from sunlight and moisture. Once opened, reseal and use within a few weeks to months.
How much food do I need?
Plan on about 2,000 calories per person per day. Use our food-storage calculator — tell it your household size and timeframe and it recommends the right supply pack, plus the protein and dairy to round out a balanced plan.
What does a supply pack include — and does it have meat?
The 1, 3, and 6-month supply packs are built around grains, beans, oats, dairy, vegetables, and fruit. They do not include meat, so for protein we recommend adding a Meat Variety Pack or individual meat cans (chicken, beef, sausage).
Is freeze-dried food healthy?
Our Ready Harvest foods are real, single-ingredient items with no added preservatives, and freeze-drying retains most vitamins and minerals. For a balanced store, mix food groups: grains, proteins, dairy, fruits, and vegetables.
How do I order, and who ships it?
You browse and plan here on Thrive Freeze, then check out securely through our partner Thrivalist, who stores and ships your order. Shipping, payment, and returns are handled by Thrivalist.
How much water should I store?
Store about 1 gallon of water per person per day for drinking and cooking. For longer timeframes, keep a smaller reserve and add a filter rather than storing months of water. See our water & filtration options.
Do you earn a commission?
Yes — we earn an affiliate commission when you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you. We’re transparent about it, and we only recommend products we genuinely trust.
